In Rockland Park, outdoor adventure is never far from home. Throughout the community, playgrounds and outdoor spaces have been thoughtfully designed to complement the surrounding landscape, using wood features and imaginative themes to bring the outdoors into everyday play. Instead of feeling separate from their surroundings, these playgrounds embrace Rockland Park’s connection to nature while giving kids of different ages plenty of opportunities to climb, explore, imagine and play.

One of the community’s most distinctive destinations is Osprey Playground, a nature-inspired play space that pays tribute to the osprey that nest along the cliffs overlooking the Bow River. Its one-of-a-kind osprey play structure is complemented by Robinia wood features, helping tie the playground into the surrounding landscape. Kids can climb their way up the osprey, take in a bird’s-eye view, race down the slides or challenge their friends on the double zipline. With swings, ropes, a seesaw and inclusive design elements, the playground offers plenty of ways for children of different ages and abilities to join the fun.

The imagination continues at Wizard’s Hideaway, located on Royston Heath NW. Designed with natural materials and sustainable features, this inclusive playground encourages kids to create their own adventures through imaginative and active play. Children can discover climbing structures, swings, bouncers, a seesaw, spinning equipment and a track ride tower. The Wizard’s Hideaway structure is specifically designed for younger children aged two to five, while other features offer challenges for older children up to age 12.

And there’s even more to discover throughout Rockland Park. The community also features a natural play area created for open-ended exploration and a climbing and balance park geared toward slightly older children. Together, these spaces build on the community’s nature-inspired approach to outdoor play, giving families a variety of places where kids can get active, use their imaginations and spend more time outside.

Whether kids are soaring through Osprey Playground, creating their own magical adventure at Wizard’s Hideaway or testing their skills at the many nature-inspired play areas, there’s always something new to explore. With wood features, animal-inspired elements and spaces created for a range of ages and abilities, Rockland Park’s playgrounds make outdoor play feel like a natural part of the community.
